Small beads made of upcycled metal and artillery are strung together to create this gorgeous dainty single. It's your new everyday staple.
WARNING: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. As a company that does business in California, we are required by California Proposition 65 to inform the public when a Prop 65 listed chemical is present above a very low threshold. As of June 1, 2020, the state of California updated the law and further reduced the chemical limits. This piece is not currently compliant with the new limits. We are actively working with Artisan Business Partners to meet these new demands. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
Noonday Collection follows the highest standards for maximum lead content traces in the U.S. You can be sure that the majority of our jewelry contains no more than 0.05% lead and 0.03% cadmium.
Artillery pieces will naturally oxidize over time. For greatest longevity, wipe down pieces with a dry, soft cloth after wearing. To restore shine, dip metal pieces in a lemon juice and water bath or clean with mild soap and water. Thoroughly dry with a soft cloth.
In Ethiopia, we partner with Artisan Businesses seeking to bring hope and dignified work to women who have been made vulnerable by their circumstances. Many of the women who craft our pieces are beginning new lives after working on the streets of Addis Ababa. Through fair and meaningful work, these women are pulling themselves out of poverty—and rediscovering their value and worth.
As they move through fields of coffee, wheat, and sorghum, Ethiopian farmers scan the ground for a very different harvest—artillery shells from former conflicts. Local craftsmen melt the shells down to create beautiful beads, then transport the beads to women in Addis Ababa who string them into beautiful accessories.
